There are many types of teacher training programs available, and they are definitely not all of the same caliber.

Not only does Hilary give her student teachers a deep understanding of the Pilates choreography, but also the philosophy behind the exercises, and a true understanding of the method. It takes years to learn everything and find that deep understanding of Pilates, and Hilary will be with you through the journey.

Many programs are not fully comprehensive. While they may seem cheaper and quicker to finish at first glance, it's much more expensive to piece-meal the certificates one at a time, and the student loses the deeper understanding of how the full method works as a whole, missing a majority of the exercises and method. Additionally, the student who only holds partial certificates compared to comprehensive programs has significantly limited options on where they can teach upon completion.

A comprehensive program takes a minimum of a year to fully complete, though student teachers can begin teaching, with approval, before their certificate is completed.

Hilary’s program strongly focuses on mentorship-style learning with apprenticeship hours. This allows students to learn more than simply the choreography, but to deeply understand the why and how throughout the system of Pilates. Students will start teaching under Hilary's guidance, During their program once they reach their number of hours of learning, in order to deepen their understanding of the method and learn by teaching.

Hilary Opheim Teacher Training Program

Hilary Opheim Teacher Training Program with me, Hilary Opheim is a different kind of Pilates Teacher Training located in my Pilates studio in Los Angeles, California. I know that becoming a Pilates Teacher can be overwhelming and confusing. There are many different Pilates Teacher Training Schools some offer levels, modules, or beginner to advanced, fast-tracked, or weekend courses. This can lead you to feel unprepared and like you are missing something. My fully Comprehensive Program gives you the time, guidance, knowledge, and freedom to dig deep and truly experience the work of Joseph Pilates. Helping you feel confident to teach what you love anywhere.

Once accepted into the program you will enter a full year of true Mentorship/Apprentice-style learning. Getting back to learning and becoming a teacher that is created by an environment of being more engaged and motivated as you are a part of that experience in your learning.

This personal Mentor-Apprentice style of training is an Assessment-based Certificate in a fully supportive environment for you to learn the Traditional Pilates exercises, anatomy, how to break the material down for your client, and develop teaching skills. You will feel confident with any issue, working with special populations, teaching mat, and all the apparatus. You will gain tools to help you thrive as a teacher and have the career you’ll love and be passionate about.
 
In my Program, you will learn all of Joseph Pilates’ work on all the Traditional Pilates Apparatus and develop the Art of Teaching.

Here are things I am excited about that you will learn in my Program:

• You will learn how to teach Pilates, how to make the most of your client’s workout and keep their goals and needs in mind as well as how to teach to the body in front of you. Knowing that you are creating a long-term relationship with the client in their Pilates journey.

• You will learn how to spot faulty movement patterns and know how to address them. There will be no wondering what am I looking for when my client comes in, you will feel sure of your knowledge and how to apply it to the individual body.

• You will know how to lead your students within the entire system to help with specific issues or to challenge them.

• You will understand the relationship all the apparatus, including the Mat, has to each other and how to use it for your students. Confident that you can teach anywhere to anyone.

• You will understand the why and how when it comes to the work of Joseph Pilates. Having the support to fully explore not only the work for your clients but, also for you.

• You will learn Cadillac, Reformer, Wunda Chair, High Back Chair, Ladder Barrel and Spine Corrector, Small Barrel, Pedi Pole, Foot Corrector, and other small apparatus. Giving you the confidence knowing you know the full system of Joseph Pilates.

• In this new Virtual teaching world, you will also learn how to teach online groups and privates. How to navigate the online platform for you and your clients. Continuing that intuitive approach and eye for detail to keep the client challenged, safe, and progressing.

  For you, this intimate approach gives you a deep understanding of the work that is nurtured and developed producing competent, intuitive, knowledgeable, and passionate teachers.

With the program I created, you will be in a supported atmosphere every step of the way so that you will become the teacher you are meant to be. You will be ready to teach anywhere. Confident in teaching private or group classes to anyone. Even after Graduation the support and guidance with me and this program never ends.
 

How my program is different for you than other programs out there:

• You are learning in a Boutique style, personal, accessible, and fun learning environment vs a large class with many and feeling like a number.

• Small intimate class size makes our time together more accessible to you as you learn with more one-on-one time together.

• Each class gets to connect and observe and explore more with classes ahead of them in the training and those that come up behind them. This gives you more opportunities to look ahead and explore or revisit what you have already learned.

• This is unlike other teacher training programs as it is an Apprenticeship based and not just skimming the surface of learning exercises and choreography.

Some additional ways you will also learn and benefit:

Anatomy- You will learn anatomical terms, bones, joints, and basic physiology of the human body. To not only know the body structure but, to have that knowledge to guide your client and have them understand the movement pattern that is right for them.

Advisor- You will have your own student advisor, someone who has been through our program before. They will be your “Guidance Counselors”, to help you learn the material, ask questions, and balance Pilates School with the rest of your life.

Mentored Teaching- The opportunity to assist in other teacher training classes and gain more experience, knowledge, and hours.

Exams and Final Project- These test what you know and give you insight into where you need to grow.

Pricing:

Tuition and Payment    $6,350 (full payment by cash or check, discounted price)  Due before the start of the course. $6,500 (full price- paid by credit card)  $7,000 (3 payments with installment plan). This includes Mat Training.

Mat Training is only $900 and includes manual and handouts

Payment Plan:   Pay in installments with the first installment due before class begins.  A Schedule of installments will be given when you are accepted for the Teacher Training course. Depending on the course dates.

Tuition cost does not include:
Private sessions with instructors (not required but if wanted) •Professional Liability Insurance •Re-testing fees (if applicable) •Lost Manuals (Training Manual & Exercise Manuals, up to $300 to replace all) . • Required reading (list will be given ) •CPR Training fees (if applicable)
